Monochrome: Silent Movies

Silent Movies

The era of silent movies was defined by exaggerated movements and intense facial expressions to deliver the mood of the scene. For this challenge, we're looking for black and white photographs that showcase big gestures and piercing emotions.

Black and white imagery and silent movies are a match made in heaven. After all, the absence of distracting colors allow the viewers to connect more to what the actors are portraying on screen. We're bringing the era of silent movies in this month's Monochrome competition. Happiness, grief, anger, excitement---show us the complexities of human emotions through your black and white photographs.

Each participant may submit up to 10 black and white photographs. This competition, which serves as the qualifying round for the Monochrome category, is open to all.
