Meerly and Randy are a couple who truly embrace the analogue lifestyle together and express their love with wacky Lomography projects and sharing tips with each other. Let’s get to know them better and see the results of their film swap project!
Hello! Tell us a bit about yourselves.
Meerly: I am inspired by fantasy stories like Pirates of the Carribean, Harry Potter and Avatar. I am amazed by how creative and imaginative humans can be. Lomography gives me a chance to explore my own imagination. Other than Lomography, I love craft, typewriter, kaleidoscope, carousel, basketball and food.
Randy: I am a service engineer in a printing company. I used to shoot with only digital cameras. I got inspired shooting on film after Meerly presented me a Sprocket Rocket. I have a new perspective in photography all over again. Now I shoot on Sprocket Rocket, LC-A, and Lubitel.
What sorts of favourite activities do you do together as a couple?
Once every week we watch a movie, dine in a nice restaurant, explore a new place in Singapore and run in a park. Every Saturday morning we will ride on our bike to a further place for breakfast. In the afternoon Randy will watch Meerly play in a Basketball League. We enjoy a quality and balanced lifestyle.
Do you usually shoot together? What are some of your favourite things about shooting photographs together?
We always shoot together. We like it because in the future when we show the pictures to our kids they will think that we are cool parents.
Tell us about the film swap that you both did for this story.
Using the LC-A+, we tried to merge the two of us in a picture by doing 2 exposures in a single shot.
But we were not satisfied with the results so we tried another roll of film and this time, we are shooting on the concept “2 become 1”, inspired by Spice Girls” 2 become 1” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”. We are curious of what kind of alien form we can be when we merge, or how will our kids look like if they got the features of Meerly’s eyes and Randy’s mouth.
Meerly: The process was really funny because I made him wear my clothes. We also thought of the concept like after we “merge”, instead of becoming 1, our gender was swapped. But it doesn’t work because Randy looks really weird wearing my clothes! Haha!
Randy: We already enjoyed the process before seeing the results. It was late in the night, we were so sleepy but we insisted on finishing our concept shots. We had so much laughter, discussion and tiredness! Nothing else I would ask for when I can spend time with someone I love and doing things that we both like together.
We were blown away by the result. Our favorite shot is the merging of our heads. Ringflash gives really cool colors and LC-A+ Splitzer definitely helps us to merge more accurately. Only downside is our outfits are not quirky enough. We still look human. Next time we will try to be more daring!
If you could gift your partner any Lomography camera, what would it be and why?
Meerly: I would present him a Horizon Perfekt. He loves the fine quality a glass lens can achieve. He is also a fan of panaromic Lomographs. I think it’s time to upgrade his appreciation of panaroma pictures shot in Sprocket Rocket to Horizon!
Randy: I would like to present her a LC-A+ White. Although she already has a LC-A+, but I think she should be shooting with a special limited edition camera. The camera represents her beauty and rarity. Second choice would be a Fisheye camera because I know it’s her personal favourite and we can always shoot wacky self shots together.
If you could go together to any place in the world to shoot, where would it be and why?
Sao Paolo – The city that said no to advertising. Some said that the city looks duller and sadder. But we think that it’s the people who make a city. In city without visual pollution, we will be able to concentrate on the people expression, engagement, and interaction. It is always a subject that we would like to explore.

What will you be doing this Valentine’s Day?
We will have a night picnic in a park. We want to do more crazy light paintings! We did one light painting project in the last day of 2011 but we want to do more colorful ones this time.
We’re proud to introduce three new anniversary editions for the LC-A+, the LC-Wide and the LC-A 120 which feature a special embossed leather design. Available while limited stock lasts, pick up your piece of the Lomo legacy from the Online Shop or a Gallery Store near you!.
