Event Highlights: La Sardina Wardrobe Exhibition Opening Party at LGS Singapore

Sipping on cocktails, munching on great food, grooving to the music, expressing your artistic talent on the wall, while admiring the gorgeous "L'art" Sardinas customized by 11 movers and shakers of the local art and design scene... it can't get better than this! To start the La Sardina Wardrobe Exhibition with a blast, we absolutely pulled out all the stops to throw the most fabulous party of the year by far! It's definitely no secret that when it comes to parties, we at Lomography Gallery Store Singapore are the best!

It was a celebration of artistic talent as 11 outstanding local artists, graphic designers, and illustrators – MOJOKO, Eric Foenander, Monster Gallery, Yong, Kitt Santos, David Chan, Astralrae, MASH-UP, Clare Marie Ryan, Speak Cryptic and Bradley Foisset – wowed the crowd with the extraordinary La Sardinas they have customized. Not being limited by the body of the camera, these talents have truly showed us the meaning of creativity by transforming each camera into an original stunning piece of art! It is not only a feast for the eyes but also completely inspiring for all those who’ve attended the party. You could almost hear the collective gasp of amazement in the air as the crowd viewed the artworks in wonder! Many even wanted to purchase the customized La Sardinas for themselves!

Not losing out to the established artists are the top 3 finalists of our Do, Die, Or D.I.Y: The La Sardina Battle! Rising up to the challenge, they each customized a La Sardina that was truly worthy of being displayed alongside those of the professionals! Winner of the Do, Die, Or D.I.Y: The La Sardina Battle was chosen by the 11 artists and Grace Ling, with her customization inspired by nature and wood, was the ultimate hot favorite! We spy some young and promising future talents!

After experiencing the overflow of creativity and inspiration, we knew people would definitely want to unleash their inner artistic diva! So we opened the door to our little wardrobe of art and let them fill the walls with their aesthetic touches! If you think you have what it takes to be the next big thing in the local art and design scene, then come on down to make your mark on the wall!

Needless to say, what’s a party without cocktails, music, and food? So we got Drinkdings - Your Mobile Bar Solution to mix us some fantastical cocktails, SPR MRKT to fill our tummies with mega delish bites, and guest DJs Ryan and Nicholas to spin us some cool tunes to groove to! Thank you guys for helping to make our party a complete success!

The Magic Yet To Come: Part 1

Here’s a random and rather mysterious tale for you folks. Just the other day, I was at a local bar with a few friends. It was much like any other evening; we were sipping a couple of cocktails, recounting our adventures, falling over ourselves with laughter and half-drunkenly meditating on the meaning of life (a scientist once told me it’s 42 by the way). But then something truly strange happened. Read on to hear my story and please make a comment with your guess at the end!

James Wright's So It Goes x Sri Lanka Photo Diary (Part I)

In December last year James Wright, editor and creative director of So It Goes Magazine, went on a two-week trip to Sri Lanka, "a place so long on our bucket list, but up until then, as yet unvisited," he writes on the first of his three-part photo diary. Herein is the first of his series that chronicles his adventures, highlighted by a selection of breathtaking images of the Sri Lankan countryside and the locals, among many other images, captured with his trusty photographic companions: the Leica MP, Lomo LC-A+, and an assortment of films including the LomoChrome Purple.

What Art Can Learn from the Banal

Stephen Shore introduced to the 70s art world an unadorned image of American life. He captured littered restaurant tables as other photographers would immaculate vistas. For the opening of “American Surfaces”, he even taped unframed snapshots on gallery walls. In these videos, Shore talks about objects that have “no pretention to art” and the things he learned from Andy Warhol.
