For this week’s edition of Show Your Stash community member and LomoGuru kleinerkaries shares her stash form a previous holiday in Malta. She brought quite a few cameras during the trip, and took a lot of beautiful photos.

Please tell us a little about yourself. What have you got planned today and where are you going?

My name is Wiebke and I am from northern Germany. I’m going on a short holiday trip to Malta. I’ve never been there and am very excited about what to see and experience there. I would like to catch some sun, read a book (I am too busy during the week when I am working) and shot nice pics there.

Please itemize everything and tell us why you’re bringing each of them, or why they’re special.

Bag: I generally use this normal bagpack with lots of little front and side pockets and not a special camera bagpack. I’ve got little bags with which I try to protect the cameras so that they don’t get damaged by being squeezed into each other inside the bagpack. My Belair is wrapped in a scarf which I can also use to protect myself against the wind or the sun. There is also a little bag for the tiny stuff you always need like new batteries, tape, DVD marker, little torch etc.

Belair X 6-12 Jetsetter with 58mm Lens, Belairgon 90mm and 35mm back

I love medium format panoramas! So my Belair had to come along. I took the plastic lens and the Belairgon, because I’m not quite sure yet if I prefer the unfocused plastic lens shots or the sharper Belairgon shots. So I wanted to find out on this trip and also have a look at the results of Belairgon 35mm pics.

Horizon Perfekt

Not only do I love medium format panoramas, I love panoramas in general. Which means my Horizon Perfect needs to be packed as well. I like the bubble-eye level in it, so that you can place the horizon correctly. To find out the correct exposure, I use a hand held light meter.

LC-A and LC-A+
Actually, I only wanted to take one of them and chose the LC-A+, because its light meter is currently more reliable. But then I realized that I needed to be able to set a lower ISO for the Tungsten films than the LC-A+ could do so I took both.

Holga 120 GCFN
Vignetting! Unfocused bits! Lights Leaks! Does anybody know of a reason to leave the Holga GCFN at home? I don’t.

Holga 135 Pan

Did I mention that I love panoramas? Well, I received this camera only a week or so before I went to Malta. I already had a test shot, but the film would not forward. Now I modified it and am curious, if it will work now.

Spinner and Motorizer
Although I am generally fond of panoramas, I have not yet warmed up with my Spinner. There’s too much on the picture, as well as me, because I always have that awful “spinner finger” in the picture and tend to have a ridiculous facial expression when caught on a photo. Maybe I like the results with the Motorizer more, because it’s slower and I can position myself better.

Unfortunately my Spinner destroyed itself in front of the most beautiful panorama of Gozo, the Azure Window, so I could not get any more pictures.

Canon EOS 55 (with Sigma 28-300mm and Petzval lens)
I normally cross-process the films in my other cameras. But I have already been unlucky a few times when cross processing the photos made my souvenirs too green or too pink. That’s why I always have an SLR with me, loaded with slide film which I don’t cross process. This way, I also have pictures which are closer to what I actually saw on my trips and I will always have one film that will work out fine.

Other Stuff/Miscellaneous: DVD marker, sunscreen, sunglasses, “The Cuckoo’s Calling”, tourist guide

I am from Northern Europe and it is the first time this year that I will see proper sunshine. I don’t want to burn, so I need sunscreen! My sunglasses are prescription eyeglasses as I am blind as a bat without them. And I need a book to keep me busy when I’m waiting for a bus or am bored in case it will rain too much. As I am a tourist, I must take a tourist guide. I need the DVD marker to write the name of the camera I used with it on the film once it is full.
