Lomopedia: Konica Wai Wai

2

We know that the LC-Wide has plucked at the heartstrings of many analogue lovers. Its crowning glory is its ultra-wide 17 mm Minigon lens that yields wide-angle shots that are crisp and filled with analogue effects. The cute and curious-looking Konica Wai Wai has a similar story to tell.

The Konica Wai Wai was a disposable 35 mm film camera manufactured between 2003-2004 and 2006-2007. It is a wide-angle camera that is suitable for panoramic shots, has a built-in flash for low-light conditions and fixed shutter speed and aperture settings.

This camera was famous for its wide-angle photos and remarkable lo-fi effects like vignetting and light flares. The Wai Wai also has a mirror in front of the camera to accommodate self-portraits at arm’s length. Users can actually reuse the camera with a little modification. The simple mechanics of the camera made it easy to modify with operations varying from film reloading to lens swapping.
