LomoAmigo Nükleer Başlıklı Kız and Their Underwater Photos

You may have noticed the new single from Nükleer Başlıklı Kız, “Beni Hatırla,” playing on the radio and music channels. During their last vacation, they took the Fisheye No.2 Gold to record their memories in circular photos that enhance the soul of the sea and the sun. We talked with NBK about their new single, future plans, and adventures with the Fisheye camera.

Hi, can you please introduce yourself to the Lomography community?

Hi, we are Nükleer Başlıklı Kız. But you can call us NBK. We are a music band that was founded in Ankara but continues their journey in Istanbul, [and] whose core members are Billur Yapıcı and Tansel Turna.

To someone who has recently met NBK, what can you tell them about the music genre you perform?

We try to perform Turkish rock music with as much new and modern sounds as we can.

You used the Fisheye No.2 Gold during summer. What can you tell us about that experience?

It was beautiful and exciting. As youngsters who are used to the laziness of digital cameras, it took us a little time to get used to it. But once we got the hang of it, we couldn’t put down our beloved Fisheye.

What is your favorite photo?

We love all of the underwater photos since we had so much fun taking them.

Did anything interesting or funny happen when you were using the Fisheye No.2 Gold?

The most tragicomic thing that happened was noticing that we had left the lens cap on when we were so sure that we captured an amazing photo.

If your photos had a soundtrack, what would it be (five song names and artists, please)?

• Kavinsky – “Nightcall”
• Led Zeppelin – “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”
• Royal Blood – “Figure It Out”
• U2 – “Where the Streets Have No Name”
• The Kills – “Baby Says”

You recently launched a single. How was the process of creating it?

It was the result of a two-month work and recording process. We also did a music video with a lovely and very experienced team. It is always exciting to put out something new and we had a lot of excitement during the production and the distribution phase of “Beni Hatırla.”

What awaits NBK for the rest of 2015?

We plan to never stop producing and making new songs. We might enter the summer with a new music video. That seems to be the closest project we will be doing this summer.

Where would you want to be and what would you want to be doing right now?

It would be nice to have completed our new songs and have a little vacation time somewhere abroad with that inner peace.

Who would you like to photograph from popular culture?

We wouldn’t want to take photos of anyone, but if someone wants to take photos of us, they can ask us without hesitation.

What are your suggestions to people who are starting to use the Fisheye No.2?

They should make sure to remove the lens cap when they are shooting.
