Seoul, South Korea-based music director Finrin’s first brush with analog photography was with a Diana Mini En Rose she received as a birthday gift from her loving fiancé. Joining the community and seeing the inspiring photos of other lomographers motivated her to be a keen observer and shoot even more. Let’s all cheer for our Newcomer of the Week, finrin!

Finrin

Name: Finrin
LomoHome: finrin
Location: Seoul, South Korea

Tell us something about yourself and what you do.

Hello, my lomofriends! I’m Finrin. I live in Seoul and I’m a musician. I work as a guitarist and music director in musical theaters. Also, I recently released my second EP via iTunes. In my albums, I composed the songs and played the instruments myself!

How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I was given a lovely Diana Mini En Rose by my fiancé Fin for my birthday. Also, he suggested making a LomoHome to share my photos with other lomographers and be inspired by their awesome photos. I think having a LomoHome definitely encourages my desire to snap lovely moments.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

Most of the rules affects me but “Rule #7: Be Fast” comes close to my heart all the time. As all we know, capturing ‘THE MOMENT’ is one of the most exquisite aspects of photography. Now, I do know these moments never wait for us! For example, taking photos of kids, that I adore as subjects. They only allow me few seconds to photograph them. No time to hesitate!

In this digital age, why still film?

The beauty of waiting. When I’m about to check my new photos, I feel excited like a child under a Christmas tree. Besides, the results are always more soulful, more emotional, and have more condensed feeling than I expect.

Your favorite analog camera as of the moment? Why?

If I have to pick one, I would say it’s the Diana Mini. Not only because of its dreamy results, but also its cute appearance that makes people want to be photograph with it! Such a great function it is!

What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?

Belair X 6-12. I thought that it’s a bit ugly but every time I wander around random albums, the photos that captivate me are always taken by the Belair. So now, I’m eager to have one.

Any song or movie you live by?

There’s a instrumental music that I wrote called Magnolia. To complete that song, I listened to it numerous times so I got kinda bored. But because of that song, I succeeded to be with my fiancé Fin. That’s why this song is so special for me and my happiness comes from us, so I can say that I live by this song.

Share your current favorite Lomograph, could be yours or a friend’s. Why?

This my current favorite photo which is included in my The moments of us album. Well, he is my favorite subject! This is my lovely fiancé and I took this photo at our home. I do love this photo’s vibe. This view is just so homey!

Any Community member you look up to? If so, why him or her?

Megalithicmatt. He always tries something unexpected. His photos are never boring and have such a nice vibe. Making multiple-exposed photo is his trademark.

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

To inspire me in a variety of ways and for the community to not fade away like other interest-based ones.

Thank you @finrin for sharing your thoughts with us! Welcome to the community and we’re looking forward to seeing more of your work!
