LomoAmigos: Aquilo

Performing on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury Festival last year was one mean feat for Lancashire, England-based electronic musical duo Aquilo. With three EPs and a full-length album on the way, the band has caught considerable attention and received positive reviews. Here’s a quick chat with Aquilo’s Ben Fletcher and Tom Higham, who had the chance to shoot with the La Sardina recently.

Please introduce yourselves to the Lomography Community.

We’re an Alternative Electronic singer songwriter duo from south of the Lake District in England. We both grew up in the village of Silverdale and started writing and producing songs together.

What inspires you all to write music?

Current situations we’ve been through or whatever we’re dealing with at the time. It really does just depend how things are going and how we’re feeling.

What advice would you give to other budding musicians who want to make in in the music industry?

Enjoy yourself and the music that you’re making.

How was your experience shooting with the La Sardina?

Really good, it’s a lovely little camera. Pretty nifty. The colors of the developed photos are really impressive. It’s a camera that’s particularly good for catching moments without needing any focus.

If your photos could have a soundtrack, what would it be? (5 songs, title and artist please)

oooh. At the time we were listening to these songs…

Frank Ocean – Sweet Life
Tame Impala – Let It Happen
Angus and Julia Stone – Silver Coin
Olafur Arnalds – Words Of Amber
Ray Lamontagne- Sarah

Any future projects lined up?

We’re currently working on our debut album after releasing our 3rd EP ‘Calling Me.’ It’s a big thing for us and we really want it to be right so we’re really focused on that at the moment. We’ll also be playing a few shows here and there too.
