Discovering the Lomo'Instant Wide with Jackie MP

Youtuber Jackie MP tested the Lomo'Instant Wide and prepared a wonderful video sharing her experience with the camera while explaining all its features.

Hi! Could you please introduce yourself to the community?

Hi! My name is Jacqueline (or Jackie, whatever you prefer), and I am a young photographer and cinematography graduate who is addicted to social media.

Could you tell us your story with photography?

My parents have always loved the photography world, and as a kid I have always been surrounded by cameras… in every model or color there was! Even the first thing I saw when I was born was a video camera. I couldn’t have ended up doing something else than this.

How did you become a Youtuber?

I really like creating videos and I thought that the YouTube platform was a great way to share this with other people. Moreover, I had never seen any other channel before that would combine cinematography, photography and fashion at the same time. And innovating is always a good idea! It is fun, I meet a lot of wonderful people and I do what I love.

What were your first impressions of the Lomo’Instant Wide?

I L O V E D I T. I never thought an instant camera could do so many things, have so many shooting modes, so many shutter speeds, multiple exposures… I spend the whole day researching and reading about it. I am in love with it, seriously.

Could you tell us more about the shots you took?

I have to admit that I loved the multiple exposition so much that all of the photos I took until now are double exposures. And with the Splitzer… it’s amazing! Double exposures with the same person, with different ones, with different backgrounds, with flowers, with buildings… I think I am an addict, thanks to you.

What did you like the most about the camera?

I love the size of the photos a lot, I love that they are so big, but obviously what I liked the most is all the different photos you can take with only one camera that at first glance looks like a very basic camera. Each photo is unique, this is what fascinated me the most.

What technique did you use the most?

I don’t want to repeat myself but I have to say the double exposure! Specially with the Splitzer, I believe it is a great invention that saves your pictures from being basic and simple.

What do you like about instant photography?

What I like the most is that it is unique, it captures moments in a different way than with a DSLR or even an analogue camera. You can’t capture two exact same photographs, and additionally, when time goes by and you have a look at the photo again… you get a different feeling when you look at it than when you look at photos on your computer.

Any tips for other Lomo’Instant Wide photographers?

I am not such an expert, but I believe that the best thing you can do is creating new things, not worry if you will fail or not on your first try, shoot memorable, unique, fun, different and crazy moments! Innovate and enjoy! I believe that’s the best thing about Lomography.
