Matthew Wilkinson: First Impressions of the Lomo'instant Automat
4 Share TweetPhotographer Matthew Wilkinson was lucky enough to be one of the first people to test out the new Lomo'instant Automat. He took this with him on his summer holiday's and we asked him about his experiences shooting with this instant camera.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m Matthew Wilkinson and I’m a wedding/lifestyle and music photographer based in Norfolk. For my personal work I shoot film, I love the whole process from taking the shot, to developing and printing my work.
How about your thoughts on shooting with the Lomo'instant Automat?
The Lomo’instant Automat is a great camera as a point and shoot, there's very little controls so it frees you up to just concentrate on the compositions of your shots. I was lucky enough to go to Italy so I took the camera there to document my trip.
What is the appeal of instant photography?
The appeal to me is to have a print instantly. When I’m shooting film its a fairly long process, so to have a physical print in your hands instantly is great, that's why I bought myself the Lomo'instant Wide.
Any future plans?
I’ve just recently finished my weddings for the year and I’ve been working with a couple of local artists shooting promo shots and making music videos. And i’ve just bought a Mamiya 7 so I’ll be shooting a lot with that for personal work and now we’re getting into the winter months I’ll be heading to the local darkroom making prints.
