Monday Moodboard: a Lomographic Chinese Zodiac

Some of you may be familiar with the "Zodiac", which was commonly used in Roman era, an area in the sky and collection of constellations which is used in astrology and astronomy for various things.

The famous Chinese Zodiac is quite different. It's a 12-year cycle with each year represented by an animal, used to scheme and plan the future. The Chinese zodiac goes in this order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. The Chinese Zodiac is based on several variations of stories and mythologies. The most famous origin story is that the Jade Emperor decreed that the years of the calendar will be depicted by an animal through a race. Whomever reaches first (the Rat) will be the first of the cycle, the second placer will represent the second year of the cycle, and so on.

The year 2017 marks as the Year of the Rooster, corresponding to the element of Metal. Many predict that people born under the Year of the Rooster will experience many challenges that can improve their growth in all aspects of life, yet a very bad year to laze around. So, Rooster, it's time to put your game-face on! In the meantime, resonate with your inner Chinese Zodiac sign with Lomography through this Monday Moodboard.
