Hi Ken_Youth of Tokyo! Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Hi, I'm Ken! I take photos, create videos and also make music as Ken_youthtokyo.

The mysterious Ken_Youth of Tokyo ... how did you get started in photography?

I get that a lot lately. I want to keep myself a mystery -- but as for photography I only started maybe like a year ago? I compose music for different artists but I got really into it when I went to these performances and started shooting. I actually want to focus on photography from now on and work as a full-time photographer.

What's your first impression of the Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Lens ?

What the XXXX is this!! -- was definitely my first impression LOL! The whole golden look and feel made me want to shoot! No time to read through the instructions - I just had this drive to shoot with this lens as soon as I saw the lens!

What kind of camera do you usually use? And what camera did you use for this photo shoot?

I usually use a Canon 5Dmk III.

I believe it was your first time using the Lomography Art Lens Series. Did you have fun, was it difficult -- what can you say about using the lens?

As of how to use this lens - I think it's the same with any new product but it was difficult at first to understand the logic. But at the same time it's also something I had fun trying to figure out the best way to use this lens. Overall it was really fun for me!

Among your photos, which one's your favorite?

If I were to choose one... I think I'd pick the black and white photo. I really like the bokeh effect and the overall atmosphere of this piece.

Ahh I really like this one too! I think it's very different from the other portraits. If you could assign a song to your photos, what would you pick as the background music?

Chilly Gonzales - (Not A) Musical Genius

Are you working on any interesting projects lately?

I am actually a friend of Makoto. I helped out with the look book and some visual image photo shooting of Makoto's apparel brand Seven Sins. I usually don't shoot in studios but I got the opportunity to shoot at such nice studio with great models so it was definitely an exciting project! Also got to use the Petzval BC Lens as well.

Is there something that you always keep in mind when shooting?

First and foremost, to have fun! Second, to be original and unique. I think that the photographs that one takes is an accumulation of different experiences. These experiences don't necessarily apply to just looking at photographs but also from different art pieces, watching movies -- anything really that can influence you and give you a positive impact. I strongly believe these experiences builds "uniqueness" and "originality" -- which then also pushes you to create something totally new! Last but not the least, I think it's also important to question yourself that what you are creating is something that you're 100% confident, you put 100% of your effort or not.

What is "photography" for you? And what is "music" for you?

That sounds like such an easy question but so difficult to answer! haha Hmm...I don't think I have an answer for that at the moment. Or more like I can't express in such limited space - but I can definitely say that music and photography are 2 factors that I live for and makes me feel alive.

If you can visit anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?

There are numerous places I want to go for shooting but if I were to chose one, then it would be Capetown in South Africa.

Anything exciting that you are looking forward to in the coming months?

I am actually working on creating short videos other than photographs. I shoot, edit and of course put music on these videos. You can check out some of these videos here -- Youtube
