Silvia Preziosi

Name: Silvia Preziosi
LomoHome: @silviapreziosi
Location: Florence, Italy

Please tell us something about yourself and what you do.

Hello everyone! I’m Silvia and I study graphic design and multimedia in Florence. Three years ago, I moved here from a small country in the South of Italy, where I was born. Sometimes I miss the sea near my home and my family but I’m not that far away so I go back as often as I need to. I sit quietly in front of the sea and enjoy its atmosphere.

At the moment I live with five other people who are like a second family to me. They inspire me every day and add so much beauty to my life in their own unique ways. During my free time, I photograph, daydream, and procrastinate a lot.

How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

Earlier this year I made a trip to Paris and I found myself with no more films and I went to look for it. I came across the Lomography Gallery Store in Paris and it was love at first sight!

I decided to join the community as soon as possible. It was a great discovery for me because it gives me the opportunity to get involved and explore the world of other people at the same time. Knowing that there are so many people who sees and perceives things differently fascinates me.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

Rule #4: “Don’t think!”. I often tend to be very reflective and this stops me from doing many things, both in photography and in life. I regretted so many times not having done something, so I try to remind myself every day how sometimes it’s important not to think, but simply do, without thought or hesitation.

In this digital age, why still film?

Initially I started to shoot film because I was simply fascinated by it. Later on, it became more an emotional issue (Don’t laugh but I almost cried out of joy the first time I developed a roll of film). I became dependent to the whole process behind it: waiting, the expectations and surprise when finally what you've created comes to life. It’s so exciting.

Your favorite analog camera as of the moment? Why?

My favorite analog camera at the moment is my Canon AE-1. It's perfect for me in every situation.

What is the Lomography camera you’d want to have someday?

I think the Lomo LC-A. I like it so much!

Share your current favorite Lomograph, could be yours or a friend’s. Why?

I took it during a holiday with a friend. We went to a lake and the sun was amazing. We were carefree and there was all this beauty in front of us…such a perfect moment!

Any Community member you look up to? If so, why him or her?

I don’t have a favorite one yet. There are so many amazing photographers in this community!

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

I’m looking forward to discovering more amazing photographers, sharing photos, and enjoying this beautiful world of Lomography!
