The Lomographer's Weekend Checklist: For Lomographic Adventures

1

Because the warmth of the sun is upon us once again, we're pretty sure many of you are already planning to head out of town or wherever. Here's an immediate checklist for your next Lomographic adventure.

Waterproof cases

After months of snow and ice, we know many of you just can't wait to head on to the beach (even though summer is still months away). We're all guilty of that spontaneous out-of-town trips in the early days of spring! So, before you go diving or dipping into saltwater, make sure you've got your gears encased in water proof covers. if you don't one right now, no need to head to the store -- here's some two awesome tipsters on a DIY waterproof camera case and DIY waterproof lens case.

Bring an unusual camera

While it's great to bring your trusty compact camera or SLR, we suggest bringing an unusual camera along. We recommend the Lomography Actionsampler. Its four-framed shots are very memorabilia-worthy.

The Lomographer's Survival Kit

If you haven't heard of the Lomographer's Survival Kit, then now' the right time to find out. Assuming everyone here lives by the Lomographic lifestyle, the survival kit is a set of very important notes, tipsters and suggestions for the Lomographer who would like to continue the "shoot from the hip", "don't think just shoot" aesthetic. There's also a part two of the kit as well.

Other do-it-yourself portable gadgets

You're going far away from home, and we reckon it's most likely out of the urban landscape. Make yur own Exposure Calculator or Paper Light Meter prior to your trip as these will come in very handy for your nature photography; remember, not all rural areas have signals for mobile internet. You'd also want to pack lightly since there'd be a lot of walking here and there. No need to bring a professional tripod, you can just make a tripod out ordinary items, plus it's fuss-free.

We'd also recommend bringing a photo journal for your instant shots. You'll never know when Big Foot shows up and takes you away. You'd definitely want to leave your journal behind in case a traveler from 2020 finds your "photographic legacy". Just kidding!
