Florence was enchanting. The city radiated the pure essence of Rinascimento, of the enlightenment that Italy underwent; a history that continues to inspire. Art students flooded the streets and with the local artists and musicians. There was a serene exuberance that filled the air and it was welcoming to one and all, natives and travelers alike. The mighty Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the quiet Arno flowing by, the graceful and imposing David…It there were was a city that could sum up perfection, Florence it was.

It’s been more than a year since the trip but I only developed my films recently. I was quite apprehensive because I had used expired film and my Venice and Paris film proved to be quite a disaster (much like the experience encountered in both cities). I take a lot of photographs with my phone and my (digital) Fujifilm XE1 but I always shoot what I like to call the "special" frames with my Pentax. Looking at these images in retrospect, I feel an unbearable attachment and a longing. So I leave you, Firenze, not with my wishes and hopes. I bid you arrivederci; until we meet again.
