2017-09-13

Nikon is today's one of the oldest camera and optics manufacturer to date, established in Tokyo, 1917. It has now reached its centennial year in 2017, and the corporation looks back at its eventful past through photographers and photography, as well as the cameras that made them renowned.

The exhibit will be traced back in the 60's and onwards to the 20th century when decades were ruled by the 35mm format. It boasts the work of Steve McCurry, whose Afghan Girl images in 1984 was taken by a Nikon camera, Charlie Cole's "Tank Man", and NASA's space images also used their equipment. By that time, 700,00 photos were already taken by NASA. The brand has been known to be the choice among documentarians and photojournalists, but the exhibition will showcase Peter Lindbergh, whose first fashion series for Stern Magazine in 1978 were taken with Nikon.

Catch the exhibition Living 24/7: 100 Years of Nikon at the NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf, September 22. The show wil run through November 5.
