Emotional Spectrum in Pictures: Iktsuarpok

Photography isn't just about the visuals, technicalities or equipment. To be a photographer, you have to capture the unseen and the abstract. And when you do, you grow one step empathetic. Here we review Lomographs that straight out speak of human emotions.

Most days are dragging — they’re routine, predictable. Wake up, get up, work, go home, sleep. Rinse, repeat. But some days are rather special.Special in the sense there are days we anticipate, we wait, to be with people we’ve been yearning to meet.

After the necessary preparations and pre-meeting rituals, we find ourselves in a state of flux, until the person, or people we’ve been waiting for, arrives.

The word “iktsuarpok” refers to such feeling — our conscious anticipation and hyper-awareness as we wait.

You check the time, fix tendrils of your hair, smell your breath to see if you had mint, then you look at the direction from where they should be coming from. It could be from the left, from the right, from the outside, through the window, or from that door. Ahh, she’s not here yet. So you look at your wristwatch again, fiddle on the menu, or your open your smartphone for incoming messages. There’s absolutely nothing better to do than to wait in impatience.

You can’t wait to be with her again.
