Singaporean Lomographer Toms Chen on His Favorite Lomography Gear

Singaporean Lomographer Toms Chen is a new face in the Lomography Community. He joined us earlier this year, under the handle @myluckyart. His incredible images caught our eye straight away! We got in touch to hear about his favorite Lomography cameras, and chat about his analogue adventures so far.

How did you become a Lomographer?

At first, I simply loved the design of the Lomography cameras — they're so colourful and cute. My first Lomography camera was the Diana F+. I started to try and shoot using the “don’t think, just shoot” rule. I was so impressed that a plastic camera could create such special photos.

Can you share with us your favorite album? Why is it your favorite?

My favorite album so far is Hokkaido — La Sardina, because my wife is so amazed by the photos we took with the La Sardina camera.

Our of all your Lomography gear, which camera is your favorite?

The Diana F+ — it's super easy to use and there are bunch of accessories available for different photography styles.

Any tips on using the Diana F+?

Connect it to studio lighting setup and it becomes something you can use for a professional shoot. Try the instant back, too!

If your journey so far as a Lomographer can be summed up by a song, which song would it be?

'City of Stars', a duet between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone from the movie La La Land.

Anything you want to say to Lomographers out there?

ALWAYS take your camera with you WHEREVER you go, and don’t worry about what you will capture — SURPRISE is the payback once you develop the films.

Toms also shot with the Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens. Take a look at his beautiful bokeh shots on his LomoHome! Give Toms some LomoLove and visit him at @myluckyart.
