New York Comic Con on the Lomo' Instant Square
12 Share TweetEvery fall, a very special event known as New York Comic Con takes place, where over 250,000 comic book and pop culture fans from all over the world gather. Lomography USA's very own Adam Hindi attended and documented the fun on a Lomo' Instant Square. Check out his photos here.
The first NYCC was held in 2006 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and is still held there every year. In 2018, over 250,000 people attended.
Adam has been attending New York Comic Con since 2010, so this year was his 10th time going! Adam talked to us about why he likes visiting:
"For me it's a travel through nostalgia — most areas bring me back to younger and more free times. I guess nostalgia really does sell! Outside the show floor, they have a display for an upcoming DC Comics film. This year it was "Birds of Prey," so they displayed some of the costumes from the film. The show floor has two huge sections. One is mostly anime-related and the second focuses on upcoming video games, as well as having vendors. It's pretty amazing seeing collectibles we had as kids — we would go nuts when our parents would buy them for us. Those same figures are worth a lot of money now if they were kept in their box. But we decided to have fun with them instead (I don't regret my decision)."
Lots of actors, writers, artists, and other celebrities attend New York Comic Con every year. Some of the notable guests from this year's event included Tom Hiddleston and Paul Rudd. Adam told us about who he enjoyed meeting this year:
"I got to meet Kevin Eastman this year, who is the creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I'd have to say meeting Tom Hiddleston and all the comic books artists was so cool to me as well."
