Port of Nice

The port of Nice is one of my favorite place to shoot. It’s a very inspiring place, not only because it’s a wide open space in front of the sea, but also because there are always a lot of new big ships to see, prestigious old sailboats or impressing giant cruisers.

The port of Nice is one of my favorite place to shoot. It’s a very inspiring place, not only because it’s a wide open space in front of the sea, but also because there are always a lot of new big ships to see, prestigious old sailboats or impressing giant cruisers.

As the port has a nice rectangular shape, I like walking from one side to the other, from the beginning in front of the old city to the end of the long harbor, just in front of the wide sea….

On the east side of the port you have all the little fisher boats, and if you come early enough you can see them bringing back their fish and I really like these little colored boats. Further on the east side, is the place of the big ferries towards Corsica and the embarkation of all the cars to Corsica is always an impressing scene. If you go on the other side of the port, you’ll see the place where al the big cruisers or sailboats are making a stop in Nice, with some very impressing ships to observe and shoot.

And finish your walk by taking the way of the long harbor towards the light tower, the best view you can have over the whole port and old city and the wide Mediterranean sea on the other side. A fascinating place!!

If you come to Nice, it’s a must seen place, very easy to find, just follow the coastal walk along the sea (the “Englishman promenade”, see other location) towards direction Monaco, and you can’t miss it! :))
