Alone in the City

In the city that never sleeps, deserted streets, with only glowing lights to give them life, is such a novel sight.

Inspired by the nostalgic photographs of Vancouver shot by Greg Girard, we challenge you to take on an evening stroll and capture the quiet side of the chaotic city. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Neon neighborhood: Follow where the bright lights are and pay attention to how its glow shapes the scene.
  • Hit the bulb mode: Experiment with long exposure and turn the lights from speeding cars into glimmering streaks.
  • On my own: Urban spaces are always crawling with people that having an opportunity to think and reflect alone is hard to come by. Catch someone who's in deep thought amid the busy crowd.

Each participant may submit up to 10 images. This competition serves as the qualifying round for the Urban Explorers category.
