    @captainfantastic oh no! The tin is under the sea! These engine houses were built to house huge steam beam engines that were used primarily to pump water out of the shafts.the shafts were sunk to below sea level then tunnels dug to follow the seams of minerals.

    What kind of minerals? I like the rocky pathway down to the building.

    @neufotomacher tin, copper, lead, arsenic! Anything they came across really. I'm not that knowledgeable on the subject but our landscape Is dominated by these old structures in some places.

    It's one of this shown in the Poldark drama ....which we enjoyed very much!

    @lomoefandy poldark is filmed at several locations but not this one of them as far as I'm aware. Have a look at my holywell bay beach photos, you will be sure to recognize the rocks from the series.
