Cherry Blossoms in Taichung
written by duringmyheyday on 2012-04-24 #placesMy only expedition to see the cherry blossoms this year took me to Dakeng, Taichung in Taiwan. We visited Taichung over the long weekend back in February and my friends decided to make the trip to a private plot of cherry trees that was kindly made public by the owner for the first time this year. There are other famous cherry blossoms viewing spots in Taiwan, for example: Yangminshan National Park, Wuling Farm and Alishan Forest but they are usually way too crowded during the peak of blooming.

Seven Star Lake (Qixingtan) in Hualien, Taiwan
written by duringmyheyday on 2011-12-28 #placesA beautiful stretch of coastline that lies at the tip of a crescent bay overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Back in August, my friends and I decided to take a much needed beach vacation in the eastern part of Taiwan. Like all dramatic holiday stories, Super Typhoon Nanmadol hit our island the day before we were set for the beach.

Catch the Beautiful Sunset at Danshui, Taipei
written by duringmyheyday on 2011-12-13 #placesThe next time you're in Taipei, remember to take some time and enjoy the beautiful sunset at Danshui. It is one of the places I'd definitely take friends who are visiting Taipei - on the Old Street, you can find awesome local street food and fun night market games; if you take a short ferry ride across to the town of Bali and the Fisherman's Wharf, you'll find yourself in the perfect place for a scenic walk by the coast.
