Metropolis
shared by guja on 2020-04-12My first test with the Lomochrome Metropolis. I am very surprised by the results, as they obviously differ greatly from the advertised results. I exposed the film with ISO 200, developed it in a negative process and scanned it as a negative with an Epson V600 Photo (automatic scan). What is wrong with it and what do I have to change? Homeprocess in Digibase C41 at 41 ° C for 2.75 minutes.

Wildlife park Schorfheide
shared by guja on 2020-02-21I received Zenit ES equipment from a colleague with the two lenses: a Tair 3S, 4.5 / 300 and a Helios 44M-4, 2/58. The Zenit ES was unfortunately defective, so I screwed the lenses onto my Zenit 11. I loaded the camera with an Agfa APX400 new and took pictures in Berlin and the state of Brandenburg in the cloudy, foggy month of November. Homeprocess in Fomadon P stock for 11.5 min.

Walking Together Miners' Memorial
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-14The 'Walking Together Miners' Memorial' with abstract representations of miners in steel commemorating over 100 men who died in a terrible disaster in the 1930's. Each figure has a bronze name tag attached for the miner who died. The Recesky rendered a remarkably sharp image for such a low tech camera!

#27118297
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-21Fabulous old photo from 1925 copied onto acetate negative and used on twice coated watercolour paper for 8 minutes. This is a very important photo showing a whole Nottinghamshire colliery village turning out in their Sunday best for a train trip to the seaside paid for by the colliery company. This train journey would be impossible for most of the miners to afford at that point in time. I love the whole feel to this and it is a very important piece of social history! Most likely the original photo was a contact print of 116 size and it was a very good quality image given it is 99 years old!

Tulip Petal Wet Cyanotype
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-27Wet cyanotype of tulip petals and stamens on watercolour paper with single generous coat of cyanotype solution. Petals were added immediately and then splashed with vinegar and soap suds. All day exposure in gentle light both indoors and outdoors. Developed under running water and scanned without playing around with the colours, just increased the contrast. This is still early days of learning but I like the subtle tones without the cyanotype blue overpowering everything.

Tulip Petal Lumen (on new paper)
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-27Lumen photogram on NEW darkroom paper for a totally different look. Tulip petals and the black stamens wetted and put under glass for 10 hours in gentle light. The scan is faithfully capturing the colours arising with the black pollen staining everything not covered in petals. If I had used my usual long expired paper the background would have been black.

Winter Oak - in camera lumen
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-08Old Oak in bare winter splendour. In camera lumen of 2 hour exposure in a 4" x 4" self made box camera. Long expired Kodabrome paper give nice colour tones and the heavy vignette is from the Braun Paxina 29 lens designed for 6x6 frame size. I think it is a happy accident as I just didn't think it would vignette so strongly!

Restored Merry Go Round Cyanotype
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-14Cyanotype created from acetate negative on twice coated watercolour paper in self made UV light box. Original photo shot using adapted Taylor Hobson 32mm projector lens (for 16mm cine film). The subject is a beautifully restored merry go round. I gave the proud owner a print and it was lovely to see how touched he was to receive a gift that recognised his wonderful skill and artistry in restoring the paintwork and mechanics of the ride.

St Giles Old Country Church Cyanotype
shared by roaringtree on 2024-03-01St Giles old country church, (now abandoned), Nottinghamshire, UK. Cyanotype from acetate negative on twice coated cereal packet card. This alternative to expensive watercolour paper gives lovely tones of royal blue and mottled 'grain'. I have no idea whether the print will deteriorate over time much sooner.... will know in a few years :-) Original photo taken using an adapted condenser lens from a Victorian Magic Lantern.

Sycamore Living Shell - Acetate Negative Lumen
shared by roaringtree on 2024-02-16Beautiful hollow Sycamore tree still clinging to life.... originally a digital photo (a Sony DSLR and Tokina 11-16mm) put onto acetate negative and exposed for 15 minutes under self made UV light. The fixing process gave a much nicer look to the print with sepia tones and a far better result on old darkroom paper than the original which was flat and boring.

A 'nothing special' camera punching above its weight when used differently to original intended purpose.

Beech Tree in Snow
shared by roaringtree on 2023-12-23Winter Beech tree in snow. A 3.5 hour exposure on a snowy day without a glimmer of sunshine. Fruit caramel.
shared by awa-awa on 2024-03-01Kalanchoe Calandiva carnaval is a durable, colorful plant for those who don't have enough time to care for flowers. Adapts perfectly to home conditions and does not require special care. Suitable for growing even for small children trying to take their first steps in floriculture. Kalanchoe Kalandiva is a fleshy, upright growing perennial plant. The flower accumulates moisture in its strong leaves and releases it as needed. The flowers are bright, double or single, in all colors and shades of the rainbow. It blooms for a long time, at least 8 weeks. The plant is a symbol of perseverance and eternal love. But as usual, not a word about amateur photographer. That's why I would add: For those who like to take pictures of everything beautiful, Kalanchoe Kalandiva Carnival is a long-lasting candy with a bright taste (only in a figurative sense), somewhat reminiscent, perhaps, of fruit caramel. Kalanchoe Calandiva carnaval it is fruit caramel for amateur photographer. #Siberia #winter #January #Kalanchoe #Kalandiva #Carnival #flowers #caramel
