In the early morning of August 1, 2023, we began our road trip which took us to Ushuaia. After a few adventures to pick up a well-reserved rental car from France, we hit the road this August 1st on the famous Ruta 40, heading due south. The road is, in sections, impassable, with lots of potholes (and we will barely avoid a puncture), but the landscapes are breathtaking. The first day, we cover 800 km to the small town of Perito Moreno (not to be confused with the glacier of the same name), and the next day, another 650 km to El Chalten. It's the 2nd day that we've been stuck in the mud, and it's a construction machine that will come and get us out of there.
