The World According to Herr Willie – Pripyat, the Last City of the CCCP (Pt.1)

When I went to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone I was deeply impressed by Pripyat. The city was home to most of the workers of the nuclear power plant and evacuated two days after the disaster. Now it's a larger than life museum about the Soviet Union. It is the last city of the CCCP.

http://www.blanchesnickelodeon.com/ I posted my favourite cross-processed shots of home the other day, which inspired me to give it a go in Kenya… Cross process or Xpro is shooting on slide film (E6) and developing it as regular colour film (C41). It produces surprising and irregular results… I’m still to master it. I took the film to the photoshop I use to develop any colour film I shoot here in Nairobi. I sneakily covered up the labels of the films with stickers, hoping the lab would not know the difference between the C41 and E6 films I’d handed in. They did notice and so I explained what I wanted. They had never heard of cross processing and were intrigued to see the results once I told them what to expect. I also told them how popular it is amongst the Lomography community. I have three Kodak Elitechrome films with me here and at 200 Kenyan Shillings or £1.50 for developing I might just give it another try.

И 6 снимков из этого альбома меня жутко раздражают, но что поделать. А да.. Очередное разочарование. Всегда пересвечиваю снимки, но экспонометром пользоваться отказываюсь. И позировать я не люблю. И настроение у меня плохое.

I bought a couple of tubes on eBay for my Kiev 60 and springtime gave me a wonderful opportunity to test one of them. These were shot with the 0.35 m tube. They're nothing amazing but I am loving what these tubes can do. I have a feeling I'm going to be spending more time with them in the future.

  • Johnny Ramone

    shared by gepo1303 on 2012-09-18

John William Cummings (October 8, 1948 – September 15, 2004), better known by his stage name Johnny Ramone, was an American guitarist and songwriter, best known for being the guitarist for the punk rock band the Ramones. He was a founding member of the band, and remained a member throughout the band's entire career. He died from prostate cancer on September 15, 2004. The Ramones were an American rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. Despite achieving only limited commercial success, the band was a major influence on the punk rock movement in both the United States and the United Kingdom. All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", although none of them were related. They performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, the band played a farewell concert and disbanded. Little more than eight years after the breakup, the band's three founding members - lead singer Joey Ramone, guitarist Johnny Ramone, and bassist Dee Dee Ramone - had died.

I felt like I knew her now, at least as well as one could. She was sensitive yet easy to be with, not the fickle, high maintenance girl I'd imagined. She always forgave my clumsiness. I understood that she had others, she gave her love so freely, so innocently, that I couldn't be jealous. I was happy to visit them and try and catch a glimpse of her. After all I knew, somewhere in the back of my mind, that she was as transient as life itself, and when she was gone, she would be gone forever.

  • Mýrdalsjökull

    shared by gepo1303 on 2014-05-15

Mýrdalsjökull (pronounced [ˈmirtalsˌjœːkʏtl] ( listen), Icelandic for "(the) mire dale glacier" or "(the) mire valley glacier") is a glacier in the south of Iceland. It is to the north of Vík í Mýrdal and to the east of the smaller glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Between these two glaciers is Fimmvörðuháls pass. Its peak reaches 1,493 m (4,898 ft) in height and in 1980 it covered an area of 595 km2 (230 sq mi). The icecap of the glacier covers an active volcano called Katla. The caldera of the volcano has a diameter of 10 km (6 mi) and the volcano erupts usually every 40–80 years. The last eruption took place in 1918. Scientists are actively monitoring the volcano, particularly after the eruption of nearby Eyjafjallajökull began in April 2010. Since the year 930, 16 eruptions have been documented.
