Still working on building out another studio here. Turning into a lot of fun since most of the equipment in installed. Other then that; it'd been a quiet and somber weekend. Ms. Katie leaves town tomorrow.

  • Kolumba

    shared by gepo1303 on 2013-06-23

Kolumba is the art museum of the Archdiocese of Cologne, originally founded in 1853. Since 2004, the museum has borne the name of its new location amidst the ruins of the late Gothic parish church of St Kolumba, thus providing a spiritual home to the collection. A triad of place, collection, and architecture, it allows the visitor to experience two millennia of western culture in a single building. Comprising art from late antiquity to the very present, the whole ensemble is imbued with a still reverberating sense of history - visibly intensified through its distinctive architecture. The modern building is a harmonious combination designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor (2007) to merge both the Gothic ruins of St Kolumba and Böhm's chapel »Madonna in the Ruins« (1950). with the unique archaeological excavation site (1973-76). Kolumba has been aptly termed »a museum of contemplation in which there is an ongoing dialogue between past and present« (Sarah McFadden, Art in America).

I was stranded in Kasakhstan with plenty of time on my hand. But suddenly I bumped into the charming Aizhan Bekmukhamedova, who is running the fashion web-portal http://look.tm/ in Almaty. I asked her, if she would help me to organize a local fashion-shooting and within hours she came up with a handful of great models. This is the seventh album of this series.

  • Both sides of the daily life

    shared by hodachrome on 2012-06-27

Exposing both sides of the film (EBS). I shot on correct(normal) side first in a sunny/bright day, at ISO400(ISO800 film inside). Below half of the lense was masked with a splitzer. After finished a roll, reverse the film (in a dark-room). Then start shooting on redscale side in a cloudy/rainy day, at ISO200. Upper half was masked with a splitzer. The order of each location is precisely the same as 1st shots. I took notes in details about locations and shot all places with iPhone, to remember locations. Need patience, concentration, and accuracy for this challenge. Plus must be careful with 'gaps' between frames. This one is almost perfect. Have a look at my article about this technique: http://www.lomography.com/magazine/tipster/2013/01/14/tipster-how-to-take-symmetrical-images-with-exposing-both-sides-of-the-film-ebs

  • Sprocket Rocket and old PF2 - orthochromatic…

    shared by adash on 2012-12-28

PF2 is an orthochromatic stock with a perfectly transparent film base, and insanely slow speed of about ISO 3. All exposures here are made for 2-4 seconds @F/16, heavy overcast. This film can be developed conveniently under a dim red safelight, in 1+100 R09 Rodinal.
