LomoGuru of the Week: Susielomovitz

Having just started a few years ago, a lot of things – both the good and the bad – already happened since then. She’s the girl whom we might call the Lucky One and to talk with someone who is born with such karma, it’s hard not to get affected by her unending enthusiasm towards Lomography!

Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic community.

Tough first one! I think my most memorable lomo experience is The LomoLuck. Since I am a Lomographer, from the very first moment, it has never left me; I have won many competitions, some of my photographs have been exhibited, my friends have given me many Lomo gadgets and I have met wonderful people and started many nice projects, so… I’m really a LomoLucky girl and that’s wonderful!

Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.

Wow! Yes! Many. Starting with the Spanish LomoTeam, they are all wonderful people and now we are already friends! There are more Lomographers but I have a very bad memory and I am sure that if I start naming them, I’ll forget some. So, you know who you are my hilarious Lomo friends, thanks for so many good analogue moments.

Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?

I’ll do! Lomography is about catching life in a beautiful and funny way – and life is always changing so we have to keep shooting. It’s impossible to say “That moment that is going to happen in 5 years.” No way! I’ll be a LomoGrandma!

What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?

My favorite Lomographic Camera is the Diana F+. No doubt. I love its medium format and the dreamy images I get from that plastic beauty. I also love that even when it’s an easy camera to use, I have to be careful about some little details while shooting (sunny or cloudy, N or B, distance…) so I get very involved in every shot. On the more technical aspects, I like being able to change lenses, have the pinhole option, bulb, long exposures, double exposures, triple… I love her! I just love her!

Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?

First of all: Have fun! And then: Be patient! First roll is usually a complete mess. Analogue photography (and most of nice things in life) needs time, it’s a wonderful learning process that you have to enjoy. If the first picture we shoot is just what we expected, it wouldn’t have sense.

They are the ones whose passion transcends not only by what they do and say, but also with what they see and capture with their film cameras. And with such attributes aforementioned, they are what we call LomoGurus!
