Sunset Watching at Camps Bay, South Africa

The best sunset spot in the entire world. If you are into sunsets like me, you would definitely appreciate Camps Bay Beach in Cape Town. It’s easy to reach, there are lots of restaurants and bars where you can savor your drinks while enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Atlantic or you can spend hours on the beach itself.

I did both – enjoyed a glass of wine with my friends on the restaurant’s terrace then quickly ran across the road to the beach to capture the sun’s “last 15 minutes of fame”.

There are so many things to Lomograph! Dogs promenading by, children playing with sand, picnickers, sunset wine drinkers, late night sportsmen, and of course, stunning scenery! You can see everything from Camps Bay – the majestic range of the Twelve Apostles mountain behind and Lion’s Head Mountain on your left. Colors are changing so quickly, you have to be really fast to capture everything.

The sea is – due to Camps Bay’s protected position in the bay; quite calm and good for swimming. At the southern end, you will find a tidal pool. The northern part is great for surfing. There is a stretch of lawn in front of the beach where picnics are often enjoyed.

My favorite Cape Town coffee shop, Vida E Cafe, can also be found here. They do the best coffees, seriously!
Blues Restaurant is also outstanding, and so is the Mezepoli.

Btw, I ended up moving to one of the Camps Bay hotels for the last leg of my trip to be closer to the sunset!
