LomoAmigo Morning Parade Shoots with the LC-A+

Lomography and FILTER Magazine teamed up to present a special collaboration! We provided several artists from the Culture Collide festival in Los Angeles some Lomography cameras and here is our eighth LomoAmigo from our Culture Collide LomoAmigo series!

The Morning Parade live experience is a community, and not just fans jumping up and down (though that helps) but also the lyrics… inspired by “what’s real and what’s around us”. They’re the first band of their kind to tap into the worries of the new generation of young adults who can’t just walk out of school or university into a decent job like their parents had.

Check out what Steve Sparrow (vocals/guitar), Chad Thomas (guitar), Ben Giddings (keyboards), Phil Titus (bass), and Andy Hayes (drums) have been up to, through the analogue eyes of the Lomo LC-A+.

NAME: Morning Parade
COUNTRY: Harlow, Essex, England
CAMERA: LC-A+

How long have you guys been Lomographers? How did you start?
We were given an LC-A to take photographs at Hyde Park for the returning of the Olympic torch to London. We opened the show to around 80,000 people. It was incredible and a real highlight for us. Chad is into photography and makes films as does his brother Craig who works full-time as a photographer and is documenting our US tour with us.

How do you incorporate Lomography in your daily life?
Since the Hyde Park show, Craig has really gotten in to it. He’s been shooting lots of landscapes and things that have been happening on the tour. Right now we are in the bus driving from Minneapolis to Chicago.

What inspires you to make music and what inspires you to take photos?
Certain things that happen in life can have an effect on you and get stuck in your mind, going round and round so we make music to look at those things and try to understand them. From the photography side, it’s not much different. There are so many things we experience on the road from all the shows and different places we visit but also right now the landscape has captured our imagination on the vast drives we have experienced across the length and breadth of America.

Describe the LC-A in five words.
Small, plastic, cool, camera, Russian.

If you were to shoot your next album cover with the LC-A+, can you describe what the imagery would be like? (Subject, colors, themes, etc.)
We more than likely would try to find a vast/desolate landscape, something that represents the size of scale of the world and the universe.

Tell us about your dream gig/concert/tour as if it were a photograph or roll of film.
If our current US tour could be described as a roll of film, it would be a very, very long roll of film and large format!

If you could photograph your musical influences, living or dead, who would those be?
Radiohead, Biffy Clyro, Elbow, Muse, Ron Sexsmith.

What’s the strangest, funniest, hands-down greatest, or most “unusual” photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had?
Off stage we are always messing around. We have a bank of photographs that we could never ever show anyone but are hilariously funny, it would be too tough to choose as its a daily occurrence.

What’s coming up on the horizon? New projects? What’s in the works and what’s on your mind?
We are about to join up on tour with Anberlin and also The Smashing Pumpkins as main support for their 2012 Stadium tour. To say we are excited would be the greatest of understatements.

Any advice for Lomographers?
Just get out there and do it, experiment, try out anything you can think of!
