My Day in Analogue: Showing a Friend Around London

There is always something new to see in London.

I love having visitors over here in London because it gives me an opportunity to go to different places for no particular reason and take lots of pictures.

This time, my dearest friend Hind from Dubai visited. Hind is an old-time lomographer who has organised many exhibitions in Dubai and runs a *blog* on modern culture, which was recently awarded The Best Blog in the Middle East. If you are not following it yet, you should!

When Hind came to London she had a very full-on cultural program, going to places such as The Whitechapel Gallery, The Institute of Contemporary Arts, and so on. In the middle of all that I suggested we go to The Somerset House, which she has never been to before. We went to see “Return of the Rudeboy,” “London’s most stylish new exhibition,” according to GQ.

From the official press release:

“Return of the Rudeboy” – an original exhibition created and curated by prolific photographer and filmmaker for music’s most wanted, Dean Chalkley, and fashion industry favorite creative director, Harris Elliott, which showcases a sartorial subculture through a series of portraits, installations and set pieces. Over the course of the past year, the duo has photographed over 60 sharply dressed individuals from across the UK, all of whom embody the essence of what it is to be a Rudeboy (or Rudie) in the 21st century, to document the life, style, and attitude of this growing urban group. The curated collection of images shows the subjects presenting their pure and singular sartorial swagger in locations linked to the Rudeboy lifestyle, whether it be on the streets of Shoreditch or Savile Row".

Then we popped in next door at the King’s College to see the exhibition of artworks by the famous English writer Beryl Bainbridge, whom I always admired but never knew was also an artist. Both Hind and I were super impressed.

After we parted our ways I had to go to the Edgware road area which surprised me with lots of colorful patterns as well as this Swedish church, so I used that opportunity to snap some lomo shots with the Splitzer. Unfortunately I managed to lose my beloved Splitzer after that.
