Make Your Own Lomo'Instant Scan Adapter!

Are you annoyed by Newton’s rings that appear when you’re scanning your Lomo’Instant shots? I am, so I came up with the idea to create something to ensure that the photos don’t touch the glass, but aren’t too far away from it either because of the sharpness.

Newton’s rings appear when smooth materials such as instant photos or negatives touch the glass.

To avoid this, all you need are:

• carton
• foamed plastic
• photo glue
• scissors

Cut a piece of carton measuring about 20×30 cm and foamed plastic pieces 8mm in size. Use the photo glue to attach the foamed plastic pieces to the corners or edges of the carton.

Furthermore, I put the photo glue in intervals on the carton to be able to fix the instants there later. Be careful that they are properly fixed on the carton, otherwise they will be sticking to your instants later! I reduced the adhesion a little bit by touching the adhesive joint with my fingers a few times so the instants can easily be replaced later.

Now, the scan adapter for your instants is ready!

You can fix your instants on the carton and place them on the scanner. If you did everything right, there shouldn’t be any Newton’s rings on your instants anymore! Plus, you can arrange the instants in a straight line so there’s less work for you after scanning.
