Subtle intimacy seems to be the principle behind Tat Tso’s portraits. Each image is a capsule of a raw emotion or a candid fleeting moment, further defined by the lens’ bokeh.

First impression of the New Jupiter 3+ Art Lens:

I’m very impressed by the solid build, and the silver finishing looks very handsome on the black camera body. Operation is very good, really smooth focusing ring, aperture ring, etc.

Your New Jupiter 3+ experience was…

I’m not really a 50mm guy, but after using this lens I think I’ll shoot more portrait with this lens. The focal length is more natural and the photo this lens produces has a very intimate feel to it.

About the photos:

I included some photos here taken for a graduation ceremony at the University of Hong Kong. Also some portraits I shot for the Lomography Team.

Any favorites?

[The photo below] because of the creamy bokeh, also it’s a very soft and intimate portrait.

Graduation portrait

Favorite feature of the New Jupiter 3+ Art Lens

The bokeh particularly at wider aperture, and the silky skin tone and texture.

Perfect subjects or opportunity to shoot with the New Jupiter 3+

It’s a standard lens so it is good for most situations, even in low light environment because of the wide aperture. Portrait is one of the things it does best.
