Taylor Ponto: Candomblé Rituals and Feminine Nudes with the Lomo'Instant Wide (NSFW)
17 Share TweetWhat do religious Candomblé rituals and feminine nudes have in common? Taylor Ponto! The São Paulo based photographer says he’s shy, but as long as he doesn’t have to talk about himself and can communicate through his camera, there is nothing shy about him. He took the Lomo’Instant Wide to very different places, creating a very interesting instant contrast.
For the uninitiated, Candomblé, meaning dance in honour of the gods, is a religion, practiced mainly in Brazil. São Paulo based photographer, Taylor Ponto, captured the rites performed at a Candomblé center with the Lomo'Instant Wide.
About shooting with the Lomo’Instant Wide: “The Lomo’Instant Wide exceeded my expectations. It is very precise, so I only had to get used to it first (I was used to another instant camera) but after that it was a joy. Shooting with the Lomo’Instant Wide gives you an extremely positive nostalgic sensation. I loved the remote. I shot some self portraits but I won’t show them, because I’m shy, haha! The design is also very pleasent.”
About the sessions: “I was quite inconsistent, as my first tries with the Lomo’Instant Wide were made in a Candomblé center and it was quite dark in there. Even so, the camera kept up and made the environment (even more) magical. Except the first attempts, I went out with my girlfriend to try some double expousers in the streets of São Paulo and loved the results. Lastly, I shot some nudes with the Lomo’Instant Wide.”
