Lomopedia: Fuji Provia 100F

Slide films are usually known for their out-of-this-world color shifts and contrast that result in outrageous effects that Lomographers have grown to love. That’s just one thing that makes color slide films such a hit in our community. The Fuji Provia 100F is a slide film although it has more on the mellow side.

The Fuji Prova 100F is tagged by the manufacturer as a “professional-quality, medium-speed, daylight-type color reversal film with ultra-fine grain.” And that’s just about the most exact description you can get on this slide film. Read between the lines and try shooting with this film and you’ll find out that there’s more to this film than what’s seen on the product spec sheet.

The Provia 100F offers a wide variety of shooting options for the discerning film photographer. It has natural tones, great rendering of colors and details, and versatility when it comes to processing and enlarging. The ultra-fine grain makes it suitable for high-quality enlarged prints while the natural rendering of color gives photos a livelier feel to them. It performs well in sunny conditions – a setting that can bring out exaggerated color shifts – and even indoors without having to compensate too much in the ISO department.

Stopped down or overexposed, the wide tonal range of the Provia 100F covers all bases and does it well. Satisfying your color shift and rich texture cravings can be easily done away with a roll or two of the Fuji Provia 100F.
