Lomo’Instant Automat Glass Quick Shots: Vivien Kongolo

There are so many exciting things you can do with the Lomo’instant Automat Glass, it’s hard to know where to start. We’ve been giving this lovable camera the full test drive so that you can experience its full potential in an instant! Today Vivien Kongolo gives us some tips on shooting portraits.

When shooting portraits with the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass it's important to remember that the viewfinder is not directly linked to the lens, so it's wise to frame your shot using the viewfinder and then try to position the lens in a similar fashion to get as close as possible to the shot you have in mind, this takes a little practice but once you have a few goes it really makes a difference.

This may seem like a very obvious and basic thing to do, however, when shooting with the LIAG it's very easy to forget to change your focus. You want to make sure that you're shooting in 0.6m to get the best out of your portrait shots. You can also use the focus on 0.3m, however, it may be wise to either get your subject to move back a little bit or take a step back yourself so that you don't lose out on the framing of the image. Use the close-up lens to get an even more detailed portrait with a sharp focus on your subject. Bear in mind that it may be wise to use the close-up lens with the 0.9m-infinity focus/setting otherwise you'll end up focusing too close to your subject.

Happy shooting!
