Pictures that Shaped Lomography 2000

The year 2000 was when humanity entered a new era. A milestone. Nothing but possibilities and opportunities for the future. The 27th Olympic Games were held in Sydney, Australia. We reckon that taking vacations hiking and exploring valleys, peaks and wide open spaces, akin to the topography of the Oceanic country was the summer trend. The vast horizons, synonymous to the uncertain yet hopeful future.

The Netherlands was ahead of everyone, having legalized same-gender marriage, adoption, and divorce. The European Airbus Consortium also went ahead to plan the world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A3xx, accommodating 656 passengers. Those are just a few out of many revolutionary things that occurred in the year 2000.

President Bill Clinton had announced that accurate GPS access would no longer be restricted to the U.S. military, and he was also the first U.S. president to visit Vietnam since the end of the Vietnam War. His wife, Hilary Clinton, was also the first U.S. First Lady to win public office. The first ever inter-Korean summit was also held -- the leaders of both North and South Korea met for talks.

The first patient to receive the Jarvik 2000 -- the first total artificial heart that can maintain blood flow in addition to generating a pulse, was successful transplanted. See? Nothing but revolutionary events.
