Pictures That Shaped Lomography 2002

2002 marked Lomography's 10th year of celebrating the joys of film photography. To mark this milestone, Vienna played host to Lomography World Congress, a grand party that showcased beautiful Lomographic shots from across the globe.

Elsewhere, Steve Fossett became the first person to complete an uninterrupted solo trip around the world. Traveling using a hot air balloon, the entire trip took 14 days, 19 hours and 51 minutes, concluding on July 4. And 33 years after dropping out of school to start his film career, renowned sci-fi director Steven Spielberg completed his degree in film and electronic arts at California State University.

Speaking of films, on this year, Spider-Man also made its debut on the silver screen. On the movie, Peter Parker was seen taking photographs with a film camera! Can you remember which classic SLR it was?

2002 was indeed a year filled with magic and adventure with the premiere of big movies like The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The same sense of wonder was felt in the Lomography community, which continued to be a visual diary and open playground for creative expression!
