Location: Cheia, Alba County, Romania
Cheia is almost a ghost village and it is located in the heart of the mountains, surrounded by a lot of canyons (cheia means "canyon" or "gorge" in Romanian). It is inhabited by eight people and it can only be accessed by foot, horse, or ATV.
My friends and I camped there for a few days and made hiking trips through the surrounding canyons. The village does not have electricity, sewerage or a drinking water system, so we lived there as people did 100 years ago. With peace, quiet and a sky full of stars at night.
