Photo Diary: Jesse Macht of Race the Tide on the Airstream Endless Caravan Tour

Jesse Macht, multi-instrumentalist and creator of his musical project Race the Tide, visited 15 states on his Airstream Endless Caravan tour in an effort to bring people together through their love of the arts by performing at people's homes and organizing community events. He put together a photo diary for us with the Lomo'Instant Automat about what it was like to share his passion with so many people in such a personal setting.

We have met new friends, revisited old friends and family, and created lasting memories with everyone. This has been the most amazing experience. Something about the intimacy of a home concert allows everyone’s hearts and minds to open up and welcome in the moment like very few other concert experiences.

My 20s were rife with confusion and hustle. These two gentlemen, who I hadn’t seen in a while, were there with me through it all. It felt so good to see them again in NYC and share the stage with them.

Rafael on the left is the world percussionist whose father and my father went to Dartmouth University 50 years ago. It was truly mind-boggling that he came and shared his musical talents and story about learning his craft alongside me and the other performers that evening. We connected the dots of a generational love.

I could not have asked for a better partner in crime on this tour: James E. Smith. He has opened up his artistry, heart, friendship, generosity, and hustle to help create and organize all these home concerts with me. We have driven and set up this Airstream trailer for #endlesscaravan everywhere we’ve gone and I could never have done this without him.

Josh is a long-time friend of James E. Smith, my colleague on this trip, and we could hear him cheering for each of us after every song with an enthusiasm we never thought possible. He has always been a supporter of James, and I was so humbled to have him come and listen to my music and watch all the eclectic speakers that evening that make #sunsetsat a truly inspirational experience.

Abbe and her incredible husband Ian are two of the coolest friends I have. Abbe is a tremendous singer and jumped on stage with us singing Janis Joplin’s “Call On Me” and Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is.” They are a karaoke crushing duo, but most of all, our shared artist experience, trust, and support is most important and I couldn’t be more grateful for their support.

The crowds are young and old, vibrant and patient, open and kind. I have not met a more inspirational group of people along the way. I couldn’t be gladder to have helped create this arts and culture series where everyone participates and includes their passions and love and shares their generosity with the intimate home concert audience. #sunsetsat
