For Paris-based lomographer Jeanne (@takechatmiaou) film photography brings a good balance between being in control and allowing chances to take over. In this interview, our featured Community newcomer shares her musings about analogue photography and some of her favorite photographs to date.

Name: Jeanne
LomoHome: @takechatmiaou
Location: Paris, France

Please tell us something about yourself and what you do.

Hi ! I'm Jeanne, I'm 28 and I live near Paris but I'm originally from Bretagne. I work in a library and take pictures whenever I feel like to.

How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I found Lomography while looking for new films (I'm always looking for new stuff to try). What I liked the most was the positive vibe of the community. I'm quite shy when it comes to my photos and it took years for me to put them on a website at such a large scale. Seeing that people were nice and friendly really helped me build the confidence to show some of my photos.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

I'd say the number 8 (You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film). When it comes to photos, I love the surprise aspect that comes with analogue.

In this digital age, why still film?

Two things I love about film is the agency it gives you and, at the same time, the limitations you have to work with. There's a frame and possibilities to work around it. And of course, the whole surprising aspect of the process when you spend the day working on a project and you have to wait to finally see it. When something you envisioned becomes a real film, it's very moving.

Your favorite analog camera as of the moment? Why?

For now, I'd say my trusty Olympus Om-2. It was a gift from my brother-in-law, Lomig Perrotin, the founder of Film Washi and it's my first "grown-up" camera. It took me a full year to explore its possibilities and I'm still learning everyday. It totally changed my way of taking pictures.

What is the Lomography camera you’d want to have someday?

I would love to have a Lomo'Instant. Instant photography is really an unknown territory for me and I 'd love to try it and just play around.

Any song, book, or movie you live by?

I don't really live by anything, I'm usually going with the flow and go from one obsession to the other. These days, I'm rereading Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen.

I'm currently obsessed with Aerochrome and this photo by @guy-debored (awesome name by the way) sums why I want a roll of Aerochrome so bad. I love the composition, too. And I love the skies, the more the better and this one is wonderful. It's a great shot.

@pinkbutterfly

I love her because she has a wonderful sense for lights and frames. She tries a lot of things and inspires me to try a little bit more. Film soup for example. This looks so much fun.

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

I'm looking for more strange films, more funny ideas, more bizarre frames, new and exciting ways of taking pictures and the same friendly and positive vibe.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Jeanne! Welcome to the Lomography Community and we're looking forward to seeing more of your work!
