For Taiwan-based Wake, who goes by the name @cmj_photography_18, film photography is a meditation. Every photograph, an observation. Before clicking the shutter, he forms the image on his mind, making sure he'll capture the emotions he wants to convey. Get to know our featured Community newcomer in this short interview.

Please tell us something about yourself and what you do.

Hello, I’m, Wake, from Taiwan. I am 25 years old now. I work with backstage lighting and as a still photographer sometimes.

How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I found the Community when I was surfing the web. I love the clear and neat result from the uploaded photos.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

Rule number 10 (Don't worry about any rules). I never believed that rules were meant to be broken. Keep exploring to become your better self. Rules are just standards instead of restrictions.

In this digital age, why still film?

Since traditional film has unsure results, which for me brings a more interesting effect than digital photos. As I said, the restriction of the film helps me to slow down and consider the result that I would like to create in each photograph instead of thinking so much. Let me spend more time on thinking and observing.

Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?

Yashica Electro 35. This is my first camera and I will keep loving it, even I may have more cameras in the future.

What is the Lomography camera you’d want to have someday?

I have not had this thought now, actually.

Any song, book, or movie you live by?

I think anything I mentioned could support me. Let's talk about movies, I watched movies regularly as the reference helps me express the variety of emotions, including my own, while I'm filming. I think it is important for a photo to deliver the emotion to the audience.

Share your current favorite Lomograph, could be yours or a friend’s. Why?

This is my favorite photo recently. It makes me feel surprised but beautiful. These ladies look similar. Suddenly it seems like, through time and space, everything stops at this moment.

Any Community member you look up to? If so, why him or her?

I haven’t found one yet, I need more time to know this Community better I guess.

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

I would like to keep continuing my works to become better and better. Also, keep improving myself and sharing ideas with the audience. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Wake! Welcome to the Lomography Community and we're looking forward to seeing more of your photos.
