Leanne Surfleet Seeing the Self with the Lomo'Instant Square Glass

Leanne Surfleet's portfolio of work is soft, subtle but hauntingly personal. We sent her the Lomo'Instant Square Glass to try out and she responded with a series of self portraits and summery shots from the Cambridge Botanic Gardens.

Hi Leanne, tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi! I'm a photographer based in the UK shooting mainly self-portraits on analog and instant films. I love to experiment with new and expired films and processes.

How did you get on with the Lomo'Instant Square Glass?

I had a lot of fun with this lovely camera, there was some trial and error but overall I loved shooting with it. It's so easy to get a hold of and perfect for capturing little moments instantly. It's also great to shoot square too as it's one of my favourite formats.

What did you choose to shoot?

I experimented with a few self-portraits, and I also shot a few portraits of Ben while we were out visiting the Cambridge Botanic Garden.

What's coming up in the future?

I'm currently in the process of editing my first photo book that will contain 10 years worth of selected self-portraits. I will be crowd funding for the book and special editions etc so keep a look out!

Lomo'Instant Square Glass

The Lomo’Instant Square Glass is the first and only fully analogue instant camera on the planet Earth to produce Instax square pictures. It lets you capture the world in a powerful snapshot while the square frame paves the way for wacky compositions. With a 95mm glass lens (45mm equivalent) and an automatic mode that takes care of exposure, the Lomo’Instant Square makes shooting super sharp, perfectly exposed snaps easy.
