Alex Totaro and the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass

London-based social media manager Alex Totaro is on a mission to discover as many new places as possible and he's been documenting his adventures with his new pal, the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass. We caught up with Alex to find out where he's been.

Hi Alex, how have you been since we last spoke?

Hello, it's been a while! I've been doing well, thank you.

You really are loving the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass, what is the appeal for you?

I guess my Twitter and Instagram Stories give me away, I'm a huge fan. I like to think that everything I capture with it is unique, not only from a composition point of view but also the fact that there is literally one shot to get it right. It's very versatile and has proven to be extremely sharp in unlikely scenarios such as night shots or with varying lighting overall. It also feels very creative. I like to think I experiment with photography and the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass is both a tool and a medium to do this.

Where have you taken this camera and what have you been shooting?

I'm taking it almost everywhere I go. I've literally gone to Japan and back since I first got the camera and it's now become a staple in all of my trips. I've taken it on a three-week-long trip all over Italy, plus to Hong Kong, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, parts of the UK, Austria and other parts of Europe so I've managed to build up a quite collection of shots that capture varied cultures, landscapes, people, lots of food (!) and a few experiments here and there.

Where would you like to take your photography next?

I'd really like to find a style that can be complementary across different mediums. I've been experimenting with a street photography project here in London and I'm seeing where I can take that, I think it can be relatable to many people. I love to travel and I'd like to continue to challenge myself to use photography to tell a different, more unique story about the places as well as my adventures in them.
