Make This a Double: An International Surprise Film Swap, Pt. 2!

Last year, Anca Pandrea (@ofchanceandchoice) invited the community to Make This a Double, an international film swap project. It was an exciting and comforting opportunity for photographers who were yearning to do something creative as the whole world was put on hold by pandemic lockdowns. Despite logistical challenges, (a film roll from Germany made it to Brazil just a few weeks ago—phew!) Anca is ready to roll the second time around!

Mechanics

If you'd like to take part this is how it works:

Fill out this form by May 20, 2022.
Complete details and instructions are provided there, too.

Film swap pairs will be created on May 22, 2022.
Anca will put all the participants' names in a hat and make random pairs. Each person will be part of two swaps – sending a roll of film to a photographer and receiving a roll of film from another (surprise) photographer.

Shoot a roll and send it to your partner by June 20, 2022.
If possible, select a film stock that would make your partner happy. Shoot and send it (tracked if at all available and affordable). To keep the surprise, try not to reach out to your partner.

Receive a roll, shoot, and process (tentatively by July 30, 2022).
Hopefully, postal services will cooperate. Shoot the roll you receive, and have it developed and scanned.

Enjoy and repeat.
Scans will be uploaded on the @makethisadouble LomoHome and on our Instagram account. We also have a Discord server!

We might make a zine. Or we might have other surprises down the line. Join me, will you?
