Jazz Cafe Camden

1

Ultimate destination for music lovers.

Whether you live in London or not, Jazz Cafe is the place to go! Food for thought, food for stomach and food for your ears – all in one place! The Jazz Cafe was opened in December 1990 after being converted from the Camden Town Barclays Bank branch.

It originally ran along the lines of Ronnie Scott’s with seven nights a week live Jazz music. After the original owners went into receivership, the venue was bought by the Mean Fiddler and repositioned it as a Jazz, Soul, Funk, World, Dance and Hip Hop venue.

Everyone has played here, from The Roots and The Herbalizer to Abdullah Ibrahim and Gregory Isaak.
DJ list includes Keb Darge, Snowboy, Dj Format and many more. Whatever music genre you are after, they have it all. Every day, six days a week. If you don’t make dinner reservations (upstairs and quite pricey, but for that you have seats for the whole night), then you’ll have to find a space to stand downstairs where the stage is.

A tiny bar that no one seems to know about is also upstairs. There’s room for about six bar stools with good side views of the stage down below, plus a bit of standing room. It’s easy to get drinks from the bar as hardly anyone makes their way up to this hidey hole! It’s also right next to the Green Room, so you’ll be able to see the performers going past. Celebrity spotting! In general, a great place to see people dance. Watch or participate, it’s your choice! Just don’t forget your Colorsplash camera.

If you are in the area and you are hungry, check out Jazz Cafe restaurant.
Open 10:30 to 5:30, Monday to Saturday. Food is traditional English: Lamb Cutlet, Tuna Steak, Fried Salmon just to name a few. They also have an extensive cocktails list, with everything from Martinis to Bellinis.
