I get lots of questions about doing multiple exposures with my Fujifilm Instax 7s. It’s really easy, actually…

Got MX fever? Well, you can use your Fujifilm Instax to get your fix. It’s super easy.

1. Pop open the back door that reveals the film cartridge.

2. Aim, adjust flash, and take your shot!

3. Before the camera’s mechanism has a chance to eject the photo, tip out the film cartridge (pull it backward toward yourself) JUST A LITTLE BIT.

4. Then push the cartridge back in when the camera has done its mechanical whirling sounds. This way, the photo will not get pushed out, but it will have been exposed to the shot.

NOTE: Don’t pull the cartridge all the way out of the camera, or else light will get into the camera body and your photo will turn out completely white.

4. Close the back door.

5. Retake your photo, as you normally would, letting the photo pop out.

And voila! You’ve got a great double exposure on your Instax! If you want to do a triple, or attempt even more exposures, repeat Step 2 and 3. But beware, the Instax film speed is 800 iso, so washed out photos may lurk beyond in the overexposed distance.

I believe this method works with the other Fujifilm Instax bodies.

Experiment with filters over your flash, too!

And use splitzers (I use black electrical tape)!

@istionojr -- I'm not sure, but as long as there is a door to reveal the cartridge, this tipster should work.

@reichenbach, WOW great results! They look a bit washed out, though, maybe set the flash for the "sunny" option so it's not as bright for each exposure?

It won't take any photos anymore and I only got it less than a month ago for my birthday.

Hey dearjme, I tried once but I failed. It had exposed and I don't know why!
Do you have any advice that how the films not to be exposed when I open up the back door?

@imogen93, I believe I responded to your other comment. My sincere apologies. But this is simply a tipster to get a desired result, mistakes happen.

@candy_1006, in my article it says "NOTE: Don’t pull the cartridge all the way out of the camera, or else light will get into the camera body and your photo will turn out completely white." So you simply tip open the door ever so slightly as to prevent the camera from ejecting the film, then pop it back in. You don't take it all the way out of the body.

Hello, I have tried this several times with a Fuji Instax 210 but I couldn't get the second exposure and I don't know why. I have been very careful when I pull the cartridge only a bit

Hi @dearjme! These look great! I'm wondering what color filter you used on the selfie photo because it looks pink, but I can only find a red lens! And did you cover the flash for this photo? And last question (sorry there are so many) - What is a splitzer? Thanks!
