The Lomo LC-A's Father: The Cosina CX-2

10

This time, I want to introduce my favorite camera, the Cosina CX-2. Why does it look like the LOMO LC-A? Sure, because it is LOMO LC-A's father. Someone said the design of LOMO LC-A was derived from the Cosina CX-2.

The full set included a camera, flash, motor drive, diving shell--what a superb set. It's really hard to collect them all. Cosina CX-2 and the LOMO LC-A look very similar outside, the main difference is Cosina CS-2's special "turn-a-round open" lens cap. Besides, the Cosina CX-2 has a built-in self-timer, the lens is 35mm f/2.8. All the other features are just the same as the LOMO LC-A. Certainly, the design and material of the Cosina CX-2 are much stronger than the LOMO LC-A. We all know the made in Russia LOMO LC-A was hard to compare with made in Japan cameras back then.

My Cosina CX-2 was a surprise win from an auction. Not in mint condition, but gave me a huge surprise on the first roll because it produced random light leaks. I don't know what's the problem for light leaks, but this made the shots very dramatic and unexpected. I find the results from light leaks much more gorgeous than cross-processing. I'm in love with the unpredictable light leaks from my special Cosina CX-2.

Maybe you can call the CX-2 the "stepfather" of the LC-A. The real father is the Cosina CX-1 (looks nearly the same) without motordrive and self-timer.
