How to Change the Top of Your Trusty LC-A or LC-A+

This goes out to the unfortunate Lomographers whose LC-A+ od LC-A experienced a mishap and needs some care. If the top part of your trusty camera cracked or broke you’ll learn how to change that part. Have fun and get your hands dirty to get a feel for your LC-A!

Difficulty level: II of V
You should feel comfortable with a screwdriver and with opening your camera.
If you are shaking from head to toes this is not going to work.

What you need

• Blank sheet of paper (to keep track of all those little screws)
• A new top for your LC-A+ (shoot me an email at customerservice@lomography.com)
• A mini screw driver
• A pointed knife or tweezers
• Some super glue

How To
1. Remove the wind knob from the camera. Open the camera and stick something in the slot of the rewind prong to keep it from turning, then screw the knob off and lay it somewhere where you can find it again.

2. Unscrew the screws that were formerly covered by the rewind knob. Be careful to keep an eye on those screws and lay them aside with the rewind knob so you know later where those little things belong.

3. Unscrew the screws on the back of the camera, put aside and mark them belonging to the back.

4. No it gets tricky! Be careful! With the knife or the tweezers lift the corner of the cover and pull it towards the lens to lift it from the cameras body. Be careful, you do not need to pull off too much.

5. Remove the screw on the front.

6. Remove the 4 screws left and right of the lens case and carefully remove the lens case.

7. Now you are ready to lift the top off and get the new one on.

Be careful about the shutter release button, it might fall out! But don’t worry you have to insert it into the new top anyways. Don’t lose the small metal thing that goes in the button for plugging in the cable release.

Now the new top:

8. Screw the top into place at the back and on the front and at the top beneath the rewind knob.

9. Screw the lens case back into place. Be careful that the slider on the bottom is in the right position for the shutter covers. It is best to keep the covers open and the slider at the bottom to the left when you put the lens case on again.

10. Screw the rewind knob on again. If the back of the camera is closed, screw the knob on a little and when it catches lift it up to open the back and then do the same blocking the prong screwing on as you did to remove the knob

11. Glue the cover back into place, step back and admire your work.

12. Pat yourself on the shoulder you did a great job! Now your beloved LC-A+ is whole again!!!
