Lunar new year/ 설날

Korean New Year, called Seollal 설날 in Korean, is the first day of the lunar calendar. It is the most important of the traditional Korean holidays. The New Year holiday lasts three days, and is considered a more important holiday than the solar New Year's Day.

I went with my husbands family to the grandfathers tomb to present the ancestors with an offering of food and wine. The fruit has the bottom and top cut off so the ancestors can smell the fruit and find it to eat it! Eventually after saying some prayers and some rites (which includes giving pouring wine on the tombs!) we ate the delicious food!
